Family Room Inspiration and Design Ideas
INSPIRATION
The family room is like the lungs of the home. Not quite the heart like the kitchen but a vital part of the home. This is an informal space where family and friends gather to watch TV, read and have fun.
Going with my overall home color scheme of Gray, Black, White and Gold/Silver accents, I am looking at either light grey or charcoal gray sofas.

This space uses the black cream and grey color scheme very well. They maximize seating using two full sofas and two unique accent chairs. The area rug adds interest and helps tie in the colors.

This room has a similar layout to the first inspiration photo. They went with the darker sofas with light accents. The lighter accents lighten up the room.

This room has a more glamourous feel. The velvet charcoal sofa bring elegance to the space. The fancy floor lamps and trellis rug along with the unique mirror behind the couch really adds the final touches of glam to the living room.

3D DESIGNS
I put together a 3D rendering of the family room space. I really want the space to be relaxing yet chic. The family room is 14′ x 18′ which is a decent size considering we didn’t get the 4 foot bump out. I don’t want the space to feel too tight or over crowded but I would like to add two large sofas with at least one accent chair.
I’m still torn between light vs. dark grey sofa. The light is harder to keep clean but it makes the space appear brighter. The dark on the other hand will hide most dirt and the velvet material adds some sophistication to the space.

Here is what I decided to go with. I’m sure by the time I actually get in the house and design the space it will change.
